The beef recall connected to XL Foods in Brooks has been expanded again…and this time it includes steaks and ribs. An article in the Edmonton Journal over the weekend tells us about the expansion.
"The nationwide recall of beef products from Edmonton-based XL Foods was expanded again Sunday and now includes everything the company produced at its packing plant in Brooks on Aug. 24, from Aug. 27-29, and on Sept. 5.
For the first time, the recall now includes New York strip loin steaks, T-bones, rib-eyes, all cuts of Kirkland Signature beef and short ribs sold at meat counters in Costco stores across the country, as well as round steak, rib roast, stir fry strips, sirloin medallions, beef cubes, minute steak, wing steak, ground veal, flank marinating steak, sandwich steak, prime rib, boneless rib steak, rotisserie roast, pot roast, blade steak and stew meat.
The list includes products purchased as recently as Thursday and products with best-before dates ranging from mid-September to Oct. 2. Virtually all major retailers in Canada are affected, including Costco, Walmart, Sobeys, Foodland, IGA, Extra Foods, Shop Easy, Supervalu No Frills, Loblaws and the Real Canadian Wholesale Club."
Please check all your beef products and err on the side of caution!
