Presented by: Red Deers Recovery Day
As a fundraiser and to help peak public interest and awareness to our cause Red Deer Recovery Day invites everyone to a public screening of “The ANONYMOUS PEOPLE”. First showing was held at The Red Deer College Rm 2501 Saturday July 15th @1pm, the second will be held at Lacombe City Cinemas Saturday August 12th @10am, admission is free but we will be accepting donations at the door. “THE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE is a feature documentary film about the 23.5 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Deeply entrenched social stigma and discrimination have kept recovery voices silent and faces hidden for decades. This passionate new public recovery movement is fueling a changing conversation that aims to transform public opinion, and finally shift problematic policy toward lasting recovery solutions. The Anonymous People shines a light on the personal and societal value of recovery through the moving stories of people who are public about what their lives are like now that they’re no longer using alcohol or other drugs. We are moms and dads, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters – all bringing the power and proof of recovery to our communities. Together we will change public perception, and ultimately the public response to the addiction crisis….. FOREVER.”
Red Deer Recovery Day is a community event in which we advocate and educate on Recovery from addiction and addictive behaviors for all of those affected by such within Red Deer and surrounding areas. In hopes to change the focus from addictions to Recovery and challenge the societal stigma that is way too often associated with; and help create a community foundation where recovery is more accessible and maintaining that recovery is achievable.
