Herr Lecture: The Girl Behind the Photo – Kim Phuc’s Story

A photograph of a young girl running naked down a road, her skin on fire with napalm, changed the way the world looked at the Vietnam War, and indeed at all wars. That photograph was seen around the world, and later won a Pulitzer Prize. The girl in that photograph is Kim Phuc. Kim Phuc went on to become a renowned peace activist, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the Culture of Peace, and the founder of Kim Phuc Foundation. Phuc tells her story so that we may gain better understand the power of hope, optimism, and forgiveness. This moving presentation will leave audiences inspired by the strength of the human spirit. Phuc is author of Fire Road: The Napalm Girl’s Journey through the Horrors of War to Faith, Forgiveness, and Peace.
