The Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club will be hosting the last short-track competition in the Kinex Arena on November 5. The RDLSSC has been hosting the annual short-track meet for athletes across the province since anyone can remember. Some of those young skaters have gone on to compete at National and World Events. The Red Deer Central Lions Speed Skating Club is a community sports club serving Red Deer and the surrounding area since 1952.

In the fall of 2023, RDLSSC will be moving to the G.H. Dawe Community Centre which will re-open in 2023, and ” the Kinex Arena will be decommissioned, and the building will be demolished*”. Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club is hosting a Short Track competition on November 5, 2022. Races start at 9 am and run until about 3 pm at the Kinex Arena, 4725 43 St., Red Deer. We encourage anyone interested to come to the arena and watch. This will be the first race for many of our young new members who would appreciate some enthusiastic spectators cheering them across the finish line. The older advanced skaters will show you how they fly on ice!

We welcome you all to check out this exciting sport, cheer on the racers and who knows, maybe see some young skaters that will be at the 2030 Olympic Games!
