Kat’s Kommentary
I’m an avid reader and always have been. In fact, when my parents went to the Parent
Teacher meeting with my grade 5 teacher, he told them to get me a public
library card, because I had already read everything in the school library. Now, I’ve been given a great opportunity to
read and review some of my favorite things….BOOKS! This might just be the best job ever!
Robin Lee Hatcher has written over 65 books and won numerous
awards. Chances are you’ve read
something she’s written. If you haven’t, you really should, and I say start with the “Where the Heart Lives”
series. I just finished “Beloved”, the last
of the trilogy and it was, as Robin’s books are, great! Not a tough read, but a fun journey that will
leave you feeling happy and likely thinking about your own testimony to others.
Travel back to the old west for this story of the prodigal
with a twist. The main characters are
real and their struggles are not that different than mine or yours. It’s hard to “walk the walk” when “talking the
talk” and silently judging others is easier.
To follow Jesus is to change things you, and others, don’t like about
you. But when it comes to showing those
others that the change is real and lasting, it can feel entirely futile. Building character takes time and real effort,
especially if it’s already in tatters.
It’s that lesson that’s wrapped around a love story in “Beloved”. As well as the promise that there is nothing
God can’t redeem and make good.
So, should you get this book? Absolutely!
It gets a solid Weekend Reading Recommendation. (As do the first 2 in the series. "Belonging" and "Betrayal")
"Beloved" is available at a 15% discount at Scott’s Parable Inspirational Gifts & Books. (In store only) Just give them the promo code, "Kat’s Kommentary".
