Kat’s Kommentary – “Deceived”

I’m an avid reader and always have been.  In fact, when my parents went to the Parent Teacher meeting with my grade 5 teacher, he told them to get me a public library card, because I had already read everything in the school library.  Now, I’ve been given a great opportunity to read and review some of my favorite things….BOOKS!  This might just be the best job ever!

Irene Hannon is going to be the next big name in Romantic Suspense. She’s already conquered the Contemporary Romance category and now she’s blazing a hot new trail.  Irene, has a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in journalism, spent many years juggling her work for a Fortune 500 company with her writing until she finally gave up the Fortune 500 and took up writing full time.  And I’m so glad she did.

For 3 years Kate Marshall has been dealing with the death of her Husband and 3 year old son in a boating accident.  The entire foundation of her life was shaken when she lost her family, but she has come through the other side, dented and bruised, but intact.  At least until a random day at the mall rocks her world once again.  Could the little boy on the escalator really be her son, or has she finally lost her mind to the grief?

From the moment you begin reading “Deceived” you will be unable to stop as you follow Kate on her quest for the truth.  You will empathize with Kate, root for the budding romance between her and the investigator working the case, Connor Sullivan, and pray for justice to be done reuniting a mother with her child.  Yet, you will also be compelled to sympathy for the villain.  When he finally breaks, so will your heart.  From start to finish, this isn’t a ride you’ll want to get off and it will leave you guessing and gasping until the end.

Deceived” is the 3rd of the Private Justice series, but it stands on its own as all her books do.

So, should you get this book?  Absolutely!  It gets a solid Weekend Reading Recommendation.  Just, watch out for walls when you can’t put it down.
